| Report: U.S. airstrike kills 8 Kurds | | The strike hit just before midnight Thursday in Mosul, according to officials with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, the party headed by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, a staunch supporter of U.S. efforts in Iraq.Sheik Kabir Goran, deputy in charge of the party's branch in Mosul, said U.S. warplanes hit a guard post that was protecting the PUK branch in eastern Mosul, 225 miles northwest of Baghdad. He said eight Kurdish guards were killed and six were wounded in the strike.Goran identified those killed as peshmerga, members of the Kurdish militia that fought Saddam Hussein's regime for decades. Many peshmerga fighters have been incorporated into the Iraqi military since the U.S.-led invasion.Maj. Gen. Wathiq Mohammed Abdul-Qadir, the commander of the provincial police, confirmed the airstrike and gave the same casualty toll.Goran said U.S. forces went to the post after the airstrike and provided care to the wounded before returning them to the PUK branch. He said the Americans promised to return later Friday to explain what happened.Lt. Col. Christopher Garver, a U.S. military spokesman in Baghdad, said the reports were being investigated.Prominent... | |

| | Weapons of mass destruction | | Do you think, that exists vindicated reason for using weapons of mass destruction? For example: Biological weapons killed only people (and of course innocent people), not military vehicles or army base. What do you think about it? | |
| | Government secrets | | Are some of our military units training and preparing to haul US citizens away into FEMA camps to maintain "order"?Does a shadow government actually run things, while allowing the "puppet government" just appear to govern? Was 9/11 an inside job?I strongly doubt it, but I also have to wonder if all these kookie conspiracy theories floated by the government to keep our minds off what is really going on.Back in the 80s, to much fanfare, the Defense Department declassified and paraded out the latest in stealth technology. The F-117 Nighthawk (Stealth Fighter) ushered in a new generation of aircraft designed to evade radar. In April 2008 it was retired in favor of the more modern stealth technology of the F-22 Raptor. That's right folks, we're expected to believe that it takes about 20 years to move from one generation of new technology to another. But we really aren't expected to believe that, we're just not expected to care... until it's time to get excited about the release of the next generation... probably 20 years from now. When war breaks out, we are treated to fuzzy "satelite photos" that only highly trained, eagle eyed intel analysts can make out. They... | |
| | | The day Arrives (the story) | | The Day Arrives Monday July 20th6:14 A.M.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOD Mooooorning, Memphis. Its 6:14 A.M time to rise and shine and get ready for work, its Monday morning, oh yeah. Now I know everyone out there is just waking up but get this, some weird news coming over the airwaves this morning. Remember those strange homeless attacks in New York City last week? Well they are happening in other cities now, and now we have them here in Memphis. Yep that’s right you heard me right, an officer in midtown last night was apparently attacked by a homeless person, and bit, yep you heard me right, bit, and ended up being rushed to the hospital and dying. Now that’s weird, but apparently he wasn’t dead, because a couple of hours later his body was found to be missing. How the hell does that happ..
Tom groaned as he slapped the button to turn off the alarm. Not really listening to the radio at all, just more weird news. He sat up rubbing his eyes and shook his girlfriend, still snoring of course.“Wake up Laura, time to get ready for work.” He said.
Laura groaned and opened her eyes. “Ugh I don’t want to go in today, how about we stay home today and have sex all...
| | Do Wars Depress You? | | Regardless of your political or religious beliefs (or even if you don't believe in either) don't you find that wars are a bit depressing? I was born in 1966 and I don't think there has been one year since my birth where there hasn't been a war raging, somewhere in the world. This is a sorry state of affairs in my opinion. Why can't people just get along with one another and why are so many wars raged where there is nothing but rocks for miles around? What are they actually fighting over? I do support the troops in those situations, that goes without saying but John Lennon wouldn't know where to start with his "Peace" message if he ever came back from the dead.
Another point to consider is that (besides the military) there would be many people out of work if they weren't making ammunition, guns, bombs and special vehicles. I once went out with a guy who worked in a lorry/van factory which had to "diversify" into military vehicles as demand for the former dropped alarmingly due to competition from abroad. I once asked him what the factory built and he refused saying that he'd signed the Official Secrets Act! I often wonder what would happen if there were no wars going on...he'd...
