| | Make the Bad Christmas Songs Go Away!!! | | Anyone else out there notice that some of the songs we only hear between Thanksgiving and New Years need to be thrown out with the turkey gizzard? I mean, when a song is supposed to be all warm and cheezy, you are ready to brace yourself for the full munster, but some just leave you wanting to kill something AND NOW!Since the only thing that should be killed around Chistmas is the goose for dinner, there are some Christmas songs that should just be allowed to go the way of Michael Bolton’s cover version of the Otis Redding Classic “Sittin’ A the Dock of the Bay”… in other words, they should never have happened, and those of us who heard it are forever damaged. So since you are dying to get to the brunt of the article… Here goesSanta Baby: Ok, I get it, Eartha Kitt sat down and thought… Hmm, what would be more annoying than the sound of a cat and a bat fighting in a dark alley? Then the words and tune of this song just popped in her head… From then on cats have been ripping out their own eardrums just to enjoy the sound of not hearing it every year.Blue Christmas: This song (in and of itself) doesn’t bother me so much. I mean it is sappy and sentimental, but... | |
| | Hickory Dickory Dock | | Liz was unhappy with her breasts. they were too small. So she went to Doctor Johnson. "Doctor, what can you do to help me. My breasts are too small." He said "its really simple. three times a day at 10am, 2pm, and 4pm, extend your arms out to the sides and rotate them reciting this poem"Mary had a little lamb
its fleece was white as snow
if i do this three times a day
my breasts are sure to grow.Well about a week later Liz is at grocery store at 10 AM. She's a little hesitant to do this in the grocery store. but she does it anyway, she extends her arms and rotates and recites:Mary had a little lamb
its fleece was white as snow
if I do this three times a day
my breasts are sure to growJust then her friend Tim walks up and says "Liz, you go to Doctor Johnson don't you?"
Liz says "well yes how did you know?"just then he hikes his leg and says "Hickory Dickory Dock"

| | East Hampton ferry ban likely to dock in court | | A trial is likely to be held next year on the constitutionality of an East Hampton law banning new ferry service in the town -- a law that has been challenged by the Cross Sound Ferry Co.Cross Sound moves 480,000 vehicles and 1.3 million people a year between its North Fork terminal at Orient and New London, Conn. The company estimates that 20 to 30 percent of that traffic is going to the Hamptons.
The firm has been trying for several years to build a new South Fork terminal in East Hampton town, an effort supported by officials in Southold and Shelter Island, which have to deal with the traffic heading to the Hamptons. But in 1997 the East Hampton town board passed a law restricting the size and power and speed of ferries, making it impossible to operate either a new auto ferry or a high-speed passenger ferry of the kind Cross Sound now runs from Orient to New London.
| | He Has A Wonderful Family | | Everyone knows the song "Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay," right? Otis Redding is legendary. Well, almost two years ago I met his adopted niece. Now he had already passed before she was even born. She and I are close friends and I have learned a lot about his family through her.His sister Louise is my friends adopted mother. She is a librarian and such a sweet woman. It takes a special person to adopt a child and raise it as if it is your own. My friend is 40 years old now. She has never known any of her real famliy, but her adopted family has been wonderful. Then there is Debra Redding, she is raising my friends son, who is now eighteen. Because of her abandonment by her natural family, she had a baby early so she could have a blood relation. Debra has raised him to be a fine boy. Debra is also a department of family services social worker. I admired people who work in a field that helps people. Then, there is his blood niece who is my friends favorite cousin. Her mom is Christine, she is the baby sister. Well, now this child Penelope had some issues with abuse while growing up. I am not writing this to air any dirty laundry, so I wont elaborate. I will just say that she... | |
| | The most moving song... | | I'm sure we all have that one song that we feel as though the entire world has to come to a hault so we can listen to it. What's that song that really gets your emotions bubbling? For me, it's "Sittin' on the dock of the bay" by Otis Redding. | |
| | Catching Redfish | | This weekend hubby took me fishing for my birthday. My birthday isn't until this week, but it's always nicer to celebrate over the weekend. Hubby chartered a guide out of Port Aransas and our trip started just before 7am Friday morning. In case you don't know, Port Aransas is on the coast of South Texas off the Gulf of Mexico. Our trip had been scheduled months ago as guides are hard to get at this time of year. Last week we thought we might have to postpone our trip when Hurricane Humberto reared its head. Luckily for us, the winds shifted the hurricane to the east of us and we had a great day of fishing. As I said, we left the dock just before 7am and before 9:30 I had already reached my limit on redfish, including one I tagged at 29 1/2 inches. By 10:30, hubby had also reached his limit, including the one he tagged at 29 inches. The coolest part of catching the redfish is that we didn't have to use any bait. Instead, we used large gold spoons with hooks larger than I was used to using. As long as there was sun shining on the water, the lure would sparkle just enough to catch their attention. It sure was fun reeling them in.I'm including a pic of hubby taken at... | |
| | Webkinz Games: Which Are Your Faves? | | Mine are all the trivia games and the tournaments like Quizzy's Word Challenge. I was playing Cash Cow and got a message on the screen that said a present was left in my room; it wasn't in the room, it was in the dock and it turned out to be a trophy! Out of curiosity I went to the W Shop to sell it to see how much I would get for it, they offered 85 points. No deal.
Some of the games are almost impossible to play like the Tulip one with the faeries. Home Before Dark is a new one but I can't get past level four. The pieces flip too slowly!Anyone out there have a favorite game at the site?
