Unique Christmas Gifts Discussions
| | Does anyone have a unique christmas treat/candy they make every year? | | i love covering things with chocolate! i'll share one of my best treats and you share one of yours. take double stuft oreos (may have to warm them for a second in the microwave) spin a sucker stick up in the filling (careful not to break cookie), freeze for 15 min. to let filling harden, spoon melted chocolate chips or bark over it until cookie is coated evenly, lay on wax paper, embellish wih sprinkles, crushed up mint candy or those sugar decos for cake that come stuck on paper sheets. freeze till hard then put top part in a sucker bag and tie with ribbon. it should look like a giant chocolate sucker. (you can get sucker sticks and bags at walmart in craft section or in craft stores). every i know loves these, coworkers loved them so much they paid $1 apiece for them, $12 dozen. | |
| | | | ANY UNIQUE CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION IN YOUR COUNTRY? | | each christian country has its own unique way of celebrating christmas. our country has the longest christmas celebration, starting on the 16th of december where we have midnight masses (actually it's held at 4:00am)for nine days, culminating in the midnight mass (this one is really at midnight)on christmas eve. we have christmas trees, christmas lights and lanterns of different shapes and sizes hung in every home, children (and even adults) singing carols from house to house, etc. there's christmas parties everywhere -- offices, schools and homes. on christmas day itself we wear our best dress to church. we cook special foods at home for guests (and even strangers) and we also prepare gifts and money to give to our godchildren. it's the best time for family reunions, with relatives from different parts of the country gathering in one place to celebrate the birth of christ together. christmas is the most awaited season for most. how about in your place, how do you celebrate christmas? | |

| | Unique Christmas Tree decoratons... | | I was just reading an article in the Hallmark Magazine and found a wonderful idea. A woman is using heirloom quality costume jewelry, specifically clip-on earrings, to decorate her Christmas Tree. I find the idea intrigueing and enchanting. What a wonderful way to use that lovely costume jewelry with all the sparkly rhinestones. The article says she just clips the earrings to the tree branches. I am always finding boxes of cheap costume jewelry at Thrift Stores and Antique stores. I even have some with missing stones I allow my granddaughter to play dress up with. I think the longer necklaces could be strung on the trees branches also as makeshift garland.
Oh my, I am so excited to give this a try. My mom has a very small tree she sets out because us kids insisted there should be a tree at grandma's house when the younger kids are over or during the big family gathering there. I am going to suggest this idea to her. | |
